    Event Description:
    The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will host Piano Celebration Week. The events are free and open to the public and will take place in the Performing Arts Center. Piano Celebration Week includes a concert series and educational activities such as lectures, masterclasses and workshops led by nationally and internationally recognized pianists and other professionals in the field. It’s also an opportunity for students and teachers to perform on a grandiose stage such as the Performing Arts Center.

    Date/Time Information:
    • Tuesday, March 20, from 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. – Piano-Percussion Faculty Recital – Dr. Sangmi Lim and Dr. Dino Mulic, piano, and Dr. Matthew McClung and Dr. Neil Sisauyhoat, percussion, will play.
    • Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. –  Piano Marathon Concert – 200+ pre-college pianists will engage in a full day recital celebrating piano music and artistry.
    • Sunday, March 25, from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. – Piano Technician Workshop – Michael Heil, piano technician, will share tips on how to keep pianos clean and well maintained.
    • Sunday, March 25, from 2:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m. – Lecture, Guest Pianist – Deborah Moriarty, chair of piano department at Michigan State University, will talk about effective practice and different memorization strategies.
    • Sunday, March 25, from 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. – Masterclass with Guest Pianist – Deborah Moriarty, will work with three students selected from the Piano Marathon Concert.
    • Monday, March 26, from 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. – Monster Concert – Music for eight concert pianists conducted by Dr. Brian Shelton.  The Symphony Viva Children’s Chorus, The Sunshine Quartet, and The Adult Piano Quartet will perform at the concert.
